Can I use Pure Power in my grey water tank?
Yes. Pure Power is recommended for use in both your grey water & your black water tank. Through normal use, accumulations of grease, soap, food, hair & skin will naturally find their way into your grey water tank. Like any other waste matter, these organic solids have the potential to cause odor problems if they are not removed. To avoid waste build-up & noxious odors, treat your grey water tank just as you would treat your black water tank. The bacterial-enzyme action of Pure Power will ensure that your piping & tanks remain clean & odor-free.
What types of cleaners can I use to avoid killing the bacteria in Pure Power?
Toilet bowl cleaners, tub & shower cleaners, bleach, anti-bacterial soaps & caustic drain openers all have the potential to kill the beneficial bacteria in Pure Power. For the purpose of this discussion, the world consists of 2 types of bacteria - good & bad. Most cleaners & sanitizers have, as their stated goal, the total destruction of all bacteria. In actuality, very few products live up to their stated goal & it is very rarely necessary to sanitize to such a degree in our day-to-day life. We need good bacteria in our world - they break down harmful waste & they allow us to digest food.
Is a 2 ounce treatment really enough to treat my holding tank?
Under normal conditions, two ounces of Pure Power is sufficient to treat a 40 gallon holding tank - black or grey. Once added to the tank, the concentrated solution of bacteria in Pure Power become "activated" & they begin to multiply as they break down the waste. Under ideal conditions, these bacteria are capable of doubling in quantity every 20-30 minutes! So, in a relatively short time period, there are literally billions & billions of bacteria & their associated enzymes working to rapidly breakdown the concentrated waste typically found in the average holding tank. At temperatures above 105 F, the reproduction rate of the bacteria slows down, therefore we recommend doubling the dosage to help control odors.
