I’ve
been using a formaldehyde-based product in my holding tank. Do I need to
rinse my tank before using
Pure Power?
If it is convenient to do so, your holding rank should be thoroughly rinsed
prior to using Pure Power. The formaldehyde concentrations contained in some
of the popular holding tank deodorizers can be toxic to the friendly bacteria
in Pure Power. If it is inconvenient or impossible to rinse your holding tank,
we recommend doubling the dose for first time use. There is strength in numbers!
The additional bacteria should be able to withstand the harsh environment and
begin the cleaning and breakdown process.
It
seems like I’ve tried every holding tank treatment on the market,
why is Pure Power better than any of the others I’ve tried?
Quite simply, the power of bacteria and enzymes. Bacteria and their resultant
enzymes are the only way to effectively and completely break down waste and
other organic matter. Through this natural breakdown process, the bacteria
in your holding tank also help to eliminate noxious odors and keep your tank
free of any build-up. The chemical additives that are commonly used in holding
tanks are designed to deodorize and preserve the contents until the tank is
once again emptied. On the other hand, Pure Power acts to immediately start
breaking down the waste and eliminating odors through natural bacterial action,
thereby eliminating the need for strong chemicals that usually serve to create
more problems than they actually solve. (Just ask anyone who has had their
3” discharge line plugged solid with waste how well the preservative
in their holding tank treatment worked for them!)
I
don’t like the expensive RV and Marine
toilet paper, can
I use
my regular household toilet paper with Pure Power?
Absolutely. The bacterial/enzyme action of Pure Power acts to break down even
regular household 2-ply toilet paper. With Pure Power, you can continue to
use the same toilet paper you use at home.
Can I use Pure Power in my grey water tank?
Yes. Pure Power is recommended for use in both your grey water and your black
water tank. Through normal use, accumulations of grease, soap, food, hair,
and skin will naturally find their way into your grey water tank. Like any
other waste matter, these organic solids have the potential to cause odor problems
if they are not removed. To avoid waste build-up and noxious odors, treat your
grey water tank just as you would treat your black water tank. The bacterial/enzyme
action of Pure Power will ensure that your piping and tank(s) remain clean
and odor-free.
What types of cleaners and sanitizers can I use to avoid killing the bacteria
in Pure Power?
Toilet bowl cleaners, tub and shower cleaners, bleach, anti-bacterial soaps,
and caustic drain openers, among others, all have the potential to kill the
beneficial bacteria in Pure Power. For the purpose of this discussion, the
world consists of 2 types of bacteria – good and bad. Most cleaners and
sanitizers have, as their stated goal, the total destruction of all bacteria.
In actuality, very few products live up to their stated goal, and it is very
rarely necessary to sanitize to such a degree in our day to day life. We need
good bacteria in our world – they break down harmful waste, they allow
us to digest food.
Is a 2 ounce treatment really enough to treat my holding tank?
Under normal conditions, two ounces of Pure Power is sufficient to treat a
40 gallon holding tank – black or grey. Once added to the tank, the concentrated
solution of bacteria in Pure Power become “activated” and they
begin to multiply as they break down the waste. Under ideal conditions, these
bacteria are capable of doubling in quantity every 20-30 minutes! So, in a
relatively short time period, there are literally billions and billions of
bacteria and their associated enzymes working to rapidly breakdown the concentrated
waste typically found in the average holding tank.
At temperatures above 105 F, the reproduction rate of the bacteria slows down,
therefore we recommend doubling the dosage to help control odors.
What happens if Pure Power freezes?
Freezing Pure Power will not harm the bacteria, as they are in what is called
a “spore form”, meaning they are inactive and stable. The reproduction
rate of the bacteria contained in Pure Power slows considerably at temperatures
below 40 F, but the decomposition of waste and the resultant noxious odors
also slows considerably, thereby maintaining a balance in the holding tank.
Avoid freezing Pure Power whenever possible.
We have encountered an increasing number of campgrounds and RV parks that
do not allow guests to dump their holding tanks if they are using a formaldehyde-based
product. Can we dump our tanks in these facilities if we are using Pure Power?
You most certainly may! In fact, you should charge the park or campground a
fee for contributing to the maintenance of their on-site septic system. We
don’t mean that literally, but any park or campground manager will appreciate
the fact that you are using a product that will have a positive impact on their
increasingly abused septic system.
Is it okay to dump our holding tank into our home septic system?
Yes, if you are using Pure Power. These are the same bacteria that you would
use to periodically treat your home septic system.
